6 Days Kenya Family Safari Experience

Day by Day Itinerary

Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Your family safari begins with a very early morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel. You will drive north through scenic highlands toward Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located on the Laikipia plateau (approx. time 4-5 hours). Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or camp, followed by afternoon game drives. Ol Pejeta is home to the Big Five—lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards & buffalo—and is renowned for its conservation efforts, including the last two northern white rhinos and a chimpanzee sanctuary—a unique family-friendly educational stop. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the views of Mount Kenya from your accommodation.

Full Day Discovering Ol Pejeta

You will have an early morning game drive in Ol Pejeta Conservancy and then breakfast. After breakfast, you will proceed with your game drives and a visit to Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary until lunchtime, when you will have lunch either as a picnic in the savanna or return to the hotel (optional). Then after lunch, continue with your afternoon game drives in search of wildlife until late in the evening, when you will return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Ol Pejeta to Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, you will leave Ol Pejeta and head southwest to Lake Naivasha arriving in time for lunch  (approx. 5-6 hours) . Afrter checking in, enjoy a family-friendly boat ride on the lake where you can see hippos and variety of birdlife up-close. Optionally, you can take a walk on Crescent Island Game Sanctaury (extra cost) where animals roam freely and there are no predators - ideal for kids.

Later, enjoy your dinner and overnight stay.

Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara National Reserve

Today, set off for the world-famous wildlife destination—Masai Mara National Reserve, a drive of about 5-6 hours through the Rift Valley. Arrive at your lodge/camp in time for hot lunch, and then enjoy an early afternoon game drive until sunset in the reserve. The Mara offers a superb wildlife viewing and wide open plains that are perfect for spotting elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, and possible cheetahs, etc.

In the evening, return to your camp/lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Discovering Masai Mara National Reserve

Spend the day on safari in Masai Mara National Reserve. Choose between a full-day game drive with picnic lunch or split morning and afternoon game drives to allow downtime at the camp (ideal for younger children). Keep an eye out for the Big Five and enjoy the vast savanna scenery. For families with older kids, a visit to a Maasai village can offer cultural insights and a hands-on experience of local traditions.

Masai Mara to Nairobi
